Is Global Banking School a University?
No. Global Banking School is not a university — it is a designated alternative higher education provider regulated by the Office for Students (OfS). It cannot award its own degrees. Instead, GBS delivers programmes that are validated and awarded by UK universities including Leeds Trinity University, Bath Spa University, University of Suffolk and Ravensbourne University. When you graduate, your degree certificate is issued by the partner university, not by GBS.
That is a good thing for two reasons:

No. Global Banking School (GBS) is a UK Government-designated alternative higher education provider regulated by the Office for Students. It does not award its own degrees — programmes are validated and awarded by UK university partners including Leeds Trinity University, Bath Spa University, University of Suffolk and Ravensbourne University. Your degree certificate is issued by the partner university.
What is Global Banking School?+
GBS is one of the largest alternative higher education providers in England, founded in 2010, delivering HNDs, top-up degrees and full Bachelor's degrees in Business, Accounting & Finance, Health & Social Care, Digital Marketing, Tourism and Construction. It runs campuses in London (Greenford, Stratford, Holborn, Wembley), Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds, and has taught over 50,000 students.
Where are the GBS campuses in the UK?+
GBS has seven UK teaching campuses: GBS Greenford (UB6 0HE), GBS Stratford (E15 2SN), GBS Holborn (Central London), GBS Wembley (North-West London), GBS Birmingham (B4), GBS Manchester (M1) and GBS Leeds (LS1). London campuses are collectively marketed as GBS London.
How much are GBS tuition fees in 2026?+
GBS charges £6,935 per year for Home undergraduate students in 2025/26 and 2026/27. This is the SFE alternative-provider tuition fee cap and is fully covered by a Student Finance England Tuition Fee Loan if you are eligible. International students pay approximately £10,000 per year.
Can I get student finance at GBS?+
Yes. GBS is designated by the Department for Education, so eligible Home students can apply for an SFE Tuition Fee Loan of up to £6,935 per year plus a Maintenance Loan of up to £13,762 per year in London, £10,544 outside London, or £8,877 living at home. Repayments start only when you earn over £25,000 per year (Plan 5).
What are the GBS entry requirements?+
For undergraduate entry you need 48 UCAS points (two A-Levels at D/E), a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma at MPP, an Access to HE Diploma, or you can apply as a 19+ mature student with relevant work experience. English requirement is GCSE English at grade 4/C, Level 2 Functional Skills English, or IELTS 5.5. For a top-up degree you need a completed HND at Merit or above in a related subject.
How do I apply to Global Banking School?+
GBS does not use UCAS. You apply directly online at gbs.ac.uk or through Lightning Enrolment (no agent fees), upload your ID, transcripts and proof of address, attend a short online interview, and typically receive an offer within 3-5 working days. Then apply for Student Finance at gov.uk/student-finance.
When are the GBS intakes in 2026?+
GBS runs three intakes every year: September 2026, January 2027 and May 2027. This is one of the reasons students choose GBS over a traditional university — you don't have to wait a year if you miss the September deadline.
Is GBS legit and worth it?+
Yes. GBS is regulated by the Office for Students, quality-reviewed by the QAA, designated for SFE student finance, and its degrees are awarded by publicly-funded UK universities. Over 50,000 students have studied at GBS since 2010. It suits mature learners, career-changers and students without traditional A-Levels — but always confirm which partner university awards your specific course before enrolling.
GBS vs a traditional university — which is better?+
GBS is cheaper (£6,935 vs £9,535/year), has smaller class sizes, three intakes per year and accepts students without A-Levels via HND or work experience. Traditional universities award their own degrees directly, have wider campus life, and are better if you have strong A-Levels and want a 3-year integrated degree straight from school. Both give you the same SFE loan access and the same graduate outcomes if you perform well.
