Gaokao Acceptance at UK Universities
Since 2018 a growing number of UK universities accept the National Higher Education Entrance Examination (Gaokao / 高考) for direct entry into Year 1 undergraduate degrees. This means Chinese students no longer need a Foundation Year if scores meet the threshold.

Many Chinese international school students take A-Levels or IB instead of Gaokao. These remain the most universally accepted qualifications across all UK universities, including Oxford and Cambridge.
