University of Greenwich January 2027 Scholarship: £3,000 & £6,000 Early Confirmation Explained
University of Greenwich January 2027 Scholarship: £3,000 & £6,000 Early Confirmation Explained
If you have an offer from the University of Greenwich for the January 2027 intake, there is a genuine early-action scholarship on the table right now, and it comes with a hard deadline.
What the scholarship actually offers
Greenwich is running an Early Confirmation Scholarship for new international students joining in January 2027, split by study level:
- Postgraduate students: an automatic £3,000 award
- Undergraduate students: an automatic £6,000 award, paid across your degree as £2,500 in Year 1, £2,000 in Year 2, and £1,500 in Year 3
The conditions, in order
1. Accept your offer. You need a confirmed offer from Greenwich for the January 2027 intake before anything else applies.
2. Pay your deposit by 16 October 2026. This is the single condition that matters most, because it is a hard date, not a rolling window.
3. Scholarship is secured once the deposit clears. Greenwich frames this plainly: paying the deposit by the deadline is what locks in the award.
There is no ambiguity in the messaging here — the university's own materials repeat "guaranteed scholarship award" and "secure scholarship by paying deposit" as the core mechanism. This is a pay-early incentive, not a merit competition.
Why the 16 October 2026 date matters more than it looks
For a January 2027 intake, mid-October gives you roughly ten to eleven weeks of runway before term starts. That sounds comfortable, but in practice several things need to happen before you can pay a deposit at all:
- Your CAS needs to be requested and issued
- Any outstanding conditions on your offer need to be met
- You need to have the deposit funds ready to transfer, factoring in international transfer times
Who this applies to
The scholarship is explicitly for new international students starting the January 2027 intake — it is not a general, every-intake scholarship, and Greenwich's own materials mark it "January 2027 Intake Only." If your offer is for September 2026 or September 2027, this particular award does not apply; check directly with Greenwich's international scholarships page for what is running for your intake instead.
What to do if you have an offer
- Confirm your offer acceptance as early as possible — don't leave this for October.
- Get your CAS process moving now if you have not already; it is usually the longest step.
- If you are relying on a bank transfer from overseas, build in extra days for the transfer to clear, not just to be sent.
- If any part of your offer is still conditional, resolve it well before the deposit deadline, not after.
