LSBU January 2027 Intake: Region-Specific Restrictions & Deposit Requirements
LSBU January 2027 Intake: Region-Specific Restrictions & Deposit Requirements
London South Bank University (LSBU) has confirmed a detailed set of region-specific application rules for its January 2027 intake - and the restrictions go down to individual Indian states and Bangladeshi divisions, not just country level. If you're applying from South Asia, checking your specific region against this table matters as much as checking the course itself.
The study gap rule - applies to everyone
Before anything region-specific: for undergraduate Year 1 entry, across all schools, LSBU will not accept applicants from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal or Sri Lanka with a study gap of more than 3 years since completing a qualification in their national education framework. This rule applies regardless of which region within those countries you're from.
India - restrictions by state
| Region | School of Business | School of Computer Science & Technologies | Other subjects |
|---|---|---|---|
| Punjab | Not accepted | Not accepted | Not accepted |
| Haryana (excl. Gurugram & Faridabad) | Not accepted | Not accepted | Not accepted |
| Chandigarh | Not accepted | £9,000 deposit | 50% tuition fee deposit |
| Uttar Pradesh | Not accepted | £9,000 deposit | 50% tuition fee deposit |
| Jammu and Kashmir | Not accepted | £9,000 deposit | 50% tuition fee deposit |
| Himachal Pradesh | Not accepted | £9,000 deposit | 50% tuition fee deposit |
| All other regions | 50% tuition fee deposit | 50% tuition fee deposit | 50% tuition fee deposit |
Gurugram and Faridabad are specifically exempted from the Haryana restriction - if a student's region is technically Haryana but their city is Gurugram or Faridabad, the wider Haryana restriction does not apply to them.
Nepal and Sri Lanka
Both countries carry a flat £9,000 minimum deposit, applying to all regions and across all three schools (Business, Computer Science and Technologies, and other subjects) - there is no region-by-region variation for these two countries in LSBU's current policy.
Bangladesh
| Region | School of Business | School of Computer Science & Technologies | Other subjects |
|---|---|---|---|
| All regions (general) | Some courses not accepted* | 100% tuition deposit | £9,000 minimum deposit |
| Sylhet | Not accepted | Not accepted | Not accepted |
| Dhaka & Dhaka Division | UG applications closed | UG applications closed | UG applications closed |
*For the general Bangladesh policy, the following courses are not accepted: BSc Business Management, BSc International Business Management, MSc International Business Management, and MSc Project Management. All other courses carry no additional restriction beyond the standard 100% tuition fee deposit requirement.
Sylhet is restricted entirely - not accepted for any school or subject. Dhaka and the wider Dhaka Division have undergraduate applications closed entirely for this intake, across every subject area.
Pakistan
| Region | School of Business | School of Computer Science & Technologies | Other subjects |
|---|---|---|---|
| All regions (general) | Some courses not accepted* | 100% tuition deposit | £9,000 minimum deposit |
| Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) & Azad Kashmir (AJK/AZK) | Not accepted | Not accepted | Not accepted |
*The same course exclusions apply as Bangladesh: BSc Business Management, BSc International Business Management, MSc International Business Management, and MSc Project Management are not accepted under the general Pakistan policy. Other courses require the standard 100% tuition fee deposit.
KPK and Azad Kashmir are restricted entirely across all schools and subjects for this intake.
PhD applicants - additional requirement
Applicants applying for a PhD at LSBU for January 2027 must submit a research proposal and obtain prior approval from the relevant faculty before their application can proceed - this is in addition to the standard application requirements and is specific to research-degree applicants.
Financial requirements and the early-bird discount
LSBU has confirmed a specific payment structure alongside the regional deposit rules above:
- Early-bird discount: students who pay their full tuition fee before enrolment receive an additional £1,000 discount, on top of any scholarship they already hold.
- CAS-to-enrolment payment step: where a student pays 50% tuition fee or £9,000 (whichever applies to their region) for CAS issuance, they are required to complete 75% total payment before enrolment - meaning a further top-up is due between CAS issuance and actually enrolling, not just at the CAS stage.
Free DET vouchers - limited availability
LSBU is offering free DET (Duolingo English Test) vouchers to support conversion, but with two conditions:
- Vouchers are available in limited numbers, first-come first-served
- Students must have cleared the PCI (Pre-CAS Interview) to be eligible
What to check before applying
- Match the student's exact region, not just country, against the tables above - the difference between "not accepted" and "£9,000 deposit" can come down to a specific state or division.
- Check the course against the exclusion list if applying from Bangladesh or Pakistan - BSc Business Management, BSc International Business Management, MSc International Business Management, and MSc Project Management are excluded under the general policy for both countries.
- Confirm the study gap for any UG Year 1 applicant from these five countries - more than 3 years since their last qualification means the application will not be accepted, regardless of region.
- Plan for two payment stages, not one - the CAS-issuance deposit and the 75%-before-enrolment requirement are separate steps with separate deadlines.
